And we'd like to take the opportunity to preview some of the upcomingactions and ongoing campaigns against war and empire that we are planningfor 2008:

Encouraging Counter-Recruiting

Themilitary is currently on an expensive recruiting campaign, and activistsacross the country are fighting back. Check out  www.operationobjection.org for more information.
The authors of the counter-recruiting handbook Army of None will in BC on their book tour, in Vancouver on January 15 and in Victoria on January 16, to be hosted by Students Against War.

Supporting War Resisters

The war resisters support campaign is currently at a very crucial stage. Find out how you can support them at  www.resisters.ca.
The WRSC will be hosting a public event in support of the resisters on Sunday, January 26, 1pm
at the Downtown Vancouver Public Library.
Opposing an attack on Iran

New organizations and campaigns are being organized to show the global opposition to any attack against Iran.
Locally, StopWar will be working with others including a new organization, Canadians Against War
www.canadiansagainstwar.org, to organize events calling for Hands off Iran.
Bringing the troops home from Afghanistan, and Iraq

In March, the world will again mobilize in a global day of action to end the occupations of Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine, on the 5th anniversary of the Iraq War. In Vancouver, StopWar will be organizing a major event on Saturday, March 15.
Providing genuine aid to the Afghan people

Following the successful cross-Canada tour by Malalai Joya in October-November 2007, activists have formed Friends of Malalai Joya - Canada. For information, email malalai.joya@yahoo.ca.
